God has given us…

power, love and self-control. Not fear!

We are memorizing this verse with Nienna because she has been having fear and anxiety with going to school. {She says she misses mommy, but we think she misses not having alone/play time} 🙂

She made me smile last night when she was repeating the verse to Nate. This is my commentary on how it was said…

“God has not given us a spirit of fear; but (stand up fast and pumped up arms) of POWER, and (cross arms on chest and tilt head to side and say in a soft voice) love, and (turn around fast and tackle Daddy) self-control.”

I think we need to work on that last one…

Waiting, again…

I was talking with my hubby last night and this morning about waiting. We are waiting again; but this is a good place to be.

It seems we wait all the time; though it doesn’t always feel like that. I mean what are you waiting for? Money for bills, victory over sin, Jesus to return, a car to be fixed, someone to keep a promise, hope and light from God to your soul…the list is endless.

The light I see in all this waiting comes from 2 places. First, the promise in Isaiah 40:31 – They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Secondly, the promise of Psalm 46:10 – Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

This reminds me to wait on God because he will keep his promise to strengthen me and this waiting will help me see who God really is. I just need to remember to not be curious about how exactly this waiting will turn out because that can make me discontent and anxious…:)

How lovely…

‘How lovely it is when brothers dwell together in unity‘ is the verse that keeps coming to mind this week.

From time with my husband, to volunteering at school, to spending time with friends God has reminded me of the joy of working and being on the same path as those I am with. He has given a grace over the last couple weeks to share in life with those closest to me. He has given us the ability to be united in mind and purpose (even if it is being stuck with a broken down car or cleaning out a storage room).

I know this unity is a gift of grace and I don’t want to take it lightly. That is why I am writing it down: now I have a permanent reminder of a grace of God.

Thank you Lord for this gift. Thank you for the friends and family you have given me. Please continue to keep us walking together and keep our hearts set on you. In Jesus name, Amen.
